
Capacitance electronic level measurement utilizes the same fundamentals as any electronic capacitor. A capacitor is formed when an AC signal is applied across two conductive plates separated by an insulating medium, or dielectric.
Displacer switch operation is based upon simple buoyancy, whereby a spring is loaded with weighted displacers which are heavier than the liquid. Immersion of the displacers in the liquid results in buoyancy force change, changing the net force acting on the spring. The spring compresses as the buoyancy force increases.

Radar level sensing devices detect the position of process liquids by measuring the interval between the emission and return of high frequency radio waves. Guided Wave Radar, used by Magnetrol's Eclipse® and HorizonTM transmitters, is a contact technology that launches its signal along a waveguide that runs directly into the process media. Pulse Burst Radar, utilized by Pulsar® and the Model R82, is a non-contact technology that launches its signal into open air along a trajectory directed toward the process media.
The level meters transmits series of ultrasonic pulses which propagates towards the liquid surface. Reflected acoustic wave is received back in the transducer and processed in electronic module. The distance calculations are based on time of flight of the acoustic wave to the level and back.
The level meters are suited to level measurement of various liquid materials, sewerage waters, mash and paste materials, suspensions etc.
